Transportation through a Lens

 
The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation’s Photographic Competition for 2015 is now open.
 
Photographers with a keen eye for a good picture are asked to submit their best efforts in the competition.

Entries should meet one or more of five chosen highways and transportation related themes.

The themes are:
  • Moving People
  • Integration
  • Innovation
  • Learning and Development
  • Making it Work
As in previous years, there will be two classes of entry: an amateur class for entries from private individuals and a corporate class for photographs sent in on behalf of a company.

Winners of both the amateur and the corporate classes will receive a £100 gift voucher and be invited to the CIHT Annual Luncheon in December to receive their certificates.

There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted by an individual or a company. Each photograph must be supplied electronically and be of sufficient resolution to produce high quality large scale prints from.
 
The closing date for entries is Monday 7th September at 10:00 am.

These photographs will then be part of the CIHT Photo library and will be featured on www.ciht.org.uk

CIHT Photo Competition Rules 2015

By entering the competition, entrants agree to be bound by the rules.

1.    Individuals can only submit entries for the Amateur Class if they are members of CIHT.
2.    The following people are excluded from entering the competition: (1) Direct and indirect employees, staff and their relatives of CIHT (2) The publishers of Transportation Professional
3.    Photographs should be high resolution JPEGS or PNG files and no larger than 10MB. Images submitted must be of sufficient resolution to produce high quality large scale prints from.
4.    CIHT reserve the right to remove images that have not been submitted correctly, e.g. in the incorrect resolution or minimum size.
5.    All entries must be submitted by e-mail, with accompanying form, and will not be accepted via any other means, e.g., post or fax.
6.    No responsibility will be accepted for incomplete entries due to server error or other causes beyond our control.
7.    One winning entry will be chosen per Class, by a panel of judges. This will be the image, which, in the judges’ opinion, is the most original, of highest quality and most closely meets on of the themes. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
8.    CIHT reserves the right to disqualify incomplete, altered or illegal entries.
9.    The prize winner/s will receive the prizes stated:

Amateur Class
  • 1st prize - £100 Gift Voucher and an invite to be a CIHT guest at the CIHT Annual Luncheon on 11th December 2015
  • 2nd prize – Complementary place at the CIHT National Conference in March 2016 (date tbc)
Corporate Class
  • 1st prize - £100 Gift Voucher and an invite to be a CIHT guest at the CIHT Annual Luncheon on 11th December 2015
10.    The deadline for entering the competition is 10:00am (GMT) on Monday 7th September. The winners will be notified by email within one month of the closing date. The winners must acknowledge their win within three weeks of being notified via e-mail or the prize may be re-allocated to the next placed winner. The winners will receive their prizes at CIHT Annual Luncheon on Friday 11 December 2015.
11.    All entrants agree that on submission of their images they give CIHT the right to reproduce the image. By entering the competition you have confirmed you have authorised this.
12.    The name of the winner may be published in Transportation Professional, CIHT’s magazine, after he or she has acknowledged their win.
13.    CIHT reserve the right to modify these rules without notice. (Last modified: July 2015)
